Elegance and performance, the Wilson touch!
Wilson was founded in 1913, initially producing tennis racket strings from natural gut. Over time, production expanded, and the American brand began making products for more and more sports, including golf, basketball and American football. After World War II, the brand started manufacturing tennis rackets, which became its flagship product from then on. Many legends have been sponsored by Wilson throughout history, such as Pete Sampras, Serena Williams, Steffi Graf and, of course, Roger Federer.
In padel, Wilson embarked on the journey in the early 2010s to conquer a booming market. With their expertise in racket sports, Wilson quickly became one of the most influential manufacturers. In 2021, they formalised a partnership with Fernando Belasteguin, the GOAT of world padel. He is supplied with rackets, as well as footwear and apparel from the American brand. Another sponsor has also joined the collection: Cupra. With these boosts, Wilson can boast being one of the best brands on the global padel market.
What are the benefits of Wilson padel shoes?
Wilson offers padeleros several different models to suit all needs: from the Wilson Rush, the Hurakn, the Kaos, to the flagship model, the Wilson Bela Pro. From the range crafted for and by Fernando Belasteguin, this pair offers cutting-edge innovations to push performance to the maximum. Special soles are fitted to the shoes to increase grip and traction with spirals, a proprietary Wilson technology. The shoes also provide excellent foot support with a lacing system integrated directly into the upper. In a sport with so many abrupt changes of direction, this is essential.
How to choose your Wilson padel shoes?
To choose the best pair, it is important to know all the features of the available shoes in order to select the most suitable one.
The sole: your connection to the court
As mentioned above, Wilson outsoles have a distinctive spiral pattern for better grip and easier turns. They can be used on all surfaces, from the carpet found on most courts to the much less common clay and grass. As for the insole, Wilson has not overlooked comfort either, using a memory-foam Ortholite base that is ideal for long, gruelling matches.
Support: feel great in your shoes!
Just as important as sole quality, foot support in the shoes is paramount, especially in padel where many explosive starts occur, particularly on drop shots. Beyond preventing the shoe from slipping off, ankle injuries are more likely to happen when the foot is less securely held.
Fortunately, Wilson has thought of everything and the distinctive lacing system keeps the foot securely held and virtually motionless inside the shoe. Additionally, an anti-torsion system is built into the sole to prevent foot twisting and avoid injuries such as strains or sprains.
Durability: keep your shoes for longer!
Another important point is durability. Indeed, a padel shoe that lasts 2 months is useless! To cope with the demanding movements of padel, Wilson has reinforced key areas of the shoe so that it stays in shape for as long as possible.
Style: shine on the court
Matching your shoes to your outfit or racket matters too! To make that easy, the American brand has opted for a restrained look, with rackets in Wilson’s classic colours: black, white and red. Complete the look with Wilson padel clothing or Wilson padel rackets and dazzle your opponent on and off the court.
How to care for your Wilson padel shoes?
Although reinforced in key areas, Wilson padel shoes still need care to last as long as possible. Here are a few tips. First, store your shoes somewhere suitable to protect them from knocks. A Wilson padel bag can do the job: its dedicated shoe pockets protect your shoes from knocks while keeping potential odours away from your other belongings.
The most important tip, though, is to use your padel shoes only for padel. They are made specifically for the sport, reinforced in key areas but also slightly more vulnerable in others that matter less for padel. That’s why padel shoes should stay on the padel court! Wilson padel accessories are also available to help them last even longer!
