Martin Di Nenno's journey in the world of padel

Martin Di Nenno: the beginning of his career

On 18 March 1997, in Ezeiza, Argentina, Martin Di Nenno was born into a sporting family. Thanks to his parents, he began playing padel at a very young age and started making a name for himself on the junior circuit in Argentina. From 2007, he played alongside Franco Stupaczuk, a partner who would stay by his side throughout his life. Gradually, he established himself as one of the best players in his country and began playing and winning tournaments abroad. He joined the WPT in 2015 with Stupa, and the two young Argentines were quickly nicknamed "Los Superpibes" (the Super Kids). He was destined for a bright future on the WPT circuit and poised to become one of the very best players in the world. However, a tragic event was about to turn his life upside down.

In January 2016, then aged 19, Martin was in Argentina spending the festive season with his family. During an ordinary journey accompanied by his 2 best friends, he suffered a horrific car accident near Monte Grande in which both his friends lost their lives. Martin miraculously survived the crash. One of the passengers was Elias Estrella, another huge talent in Argentine padel who was also on his way to the top of the world rankings.

Di Nenno nevertheless ended up with 2 broken legs, with doctors giving him very little chance of playing padel again, and possibly a year before being able to walk. But with his mental strength and determination, he trained relentlessly to regain his best level in padel and honour the memory of his 2 friends, particularly Elias Estrella. In under a year of hard work and rehabilitation, he managed to return to the WPT and properly launch his career as he was meant to.

Martin Di Nenno's evolution as a player

As soon as he recovered, Martin threw himself back into what had driven his life since childhood: padel. At first, several partners followed one another: Restivo, Garrido, Silingo, but in 2020, his partnership with Maxi Sanchez, a heavyweight of the circuit, stood out and they managed to climb into the top 8 pairs in the world. After an encouraging year, the young Argentine teamed up with Paquito Navarro, former world number 1 and one of the best players on the circuit, to form a pair with limitless potential. And it was alongside the Spaniard that Martin would win his first WPT tournament in Barcelona in September 2021, during an emotionally charged final that he naturally dedicated to his 2 friends who tragically died 5 years earlier. That evening, Di Nenno took his revenge on life and proved that all his physical and psychological efforts endured over the years had paid off.

Finally, for the year 2023, the legendary Di Nenno / Stupaczuk pair that dominated everything at junior level in Argentina was reformed, bringing things full circle since starting out in 2007. The level displayed is fantastic, confirming their status as the 2nd best pair of the year with 7 tournament titles won and a friendship as strong as ever. Martin Di Nenno is an example of resilience and perseverance for everyone in achieving his dream: making a living from padel.

Martin Di Nenno's playing style

Technique and strategy

Di Nenno is a right-side player and an excellent defender who relies on his mobility to move swiftly across the court and cover maximum ground. Often paired with powerful overhead players, the Argentine is sharper, patching up gaps left by his partners. Thanks to his compact build (1.75 m) and low centre of gravity, he can easily get down to low balls and prolong rallies, wearing down opponents to force errors.

Doubles partners

Martin Di Nenno has had several partners throughout his career, both before and after his long rehabilitation. From a very young age, he began playing with Franco Stupaczuk, his lifelong friend. But following his accident and after many months of recovery, Martin changed partners, playing successively with Lucas Campagnolo and then Juan Manuel Restivo. His career began to take off thanks to his partnership with Javi Garrido, but it was really alongside Maxi Sanchez that Di Nenno gradually became known to the general public. In 2021, he teamed up with Paquito Navarro to win his first tournaments, and more recently in 2023, "Los Superpibes" reunited once again and the Argentine was able to play alongside Franco Stupaczuk again, just like in their Argentine junior circuit days.

Since January 2021, the Argentine has been under contract with Bullpadel. The Spanish brand boasts 28 male and female professional players across both top 100 rankings, and the signing of Martin Di Nenno made major headlines.
