Who is Paquito Navarro?

Francisco Jesús Navarro Compán, born in Seville on 10 February 1989, better known as Paquito Navarro, is a Spanish professional padel player, ranked 8th on the World Padel Tour. He is one of the public's most adored players for his charisma, his drive to win and his strokes of genius on the court. He plays on the left alongside the Argentine Federico Chingotto, with whom he teamed up in 2023.

Paquito Navarro: a look back at his beginnings in the world of padel

Paquito Navarro started playing padel at the age of 5. At 9, he played in his first tournaments, catching the eye of connoisseurs. At the age of 10, he became runner-up in his category alongside Jaime Bergareche. Four years later, he took part in another world championship for players of his age, once again missing out on the title in the final. He competed in his next world championship at 16 in the junior category, reaching the final once more and finishing as runner-up.

He finally broke the curse when he began training with Adrian Allemandi until the age of 20 and at last won the junior world championship final.

Paquito's professional career

He turned professional in 2009. With Jordi Muñoz, he joined the Padel Pro Tour and won the Spanish Under-23 Championship. In 2010, he was runner-up in the Spanish Absolute Championship alongside veteran Pitu Lozada. With Tito Allemandi, he made his professional debut, reaching two finals on the professional padel circuit and taking part in the Masters final.

However, his journey was not always smooth sailing: he seemed to lose focus in 2013 and 2014, regularly changing partners. The 2015 Masters final pitted him and Maxi Grabiel against the great Fernando Belasteguin and Juan Martin Diaz, giving him his first significant trophy as a professional player.

Shortly afterwards, he started playing with Matias Diaz. Together, they finished in second place on the World Padel Tour. But that was not enough for Paquito, and he set out to find the brilliant Sanyo Gutierrez. Sanyo seemed to be the only option capable of challenging the tireless Belasteguin. 

During 2018, he changed partners once again. Former number 1 Juan Martin Diaz, Pablo Lima and Juan Cruz Beluatti all played alongside him.

In 2019, Paquito teamed up with the young Juan Lebron Chincoa, who was on the rise. They won 5 tournaments and together were ranked as the number 1 pair.

Despite the duo's strong results, Navarro chose to form a new partnership with Martin Di Nenno for the 2021 and 2022 seasons. They eventually parted ways in October 2022 after a rather average record and a difficult dynamic. Paquito Navarro then briefly partnered with the Spaniard Yanguas before teaming up with Juan Tello, but switching positions to play on his forehand side, on the right.

So far, Paquito Navarro has won 24 Open and Master tournaments as a professional, which puts him 6th overall behind Juan Lebron. He remained undefeated for 15 consecutive matches.

He also claimed victory at the Premier Padel 2022 in Doha against Lebron and Galan 6-3 / 7-6(4), alongside Martin di Nenno.

He is currently ranked 8th in the WPT world rankings.

Born on 10 February 1989, Paquito Navarro started playing padel at the age of 5, developing an early passion for the sport. Very early on, his exceptional talent propelled him among the world's best players. At just 10 years old, he had already made his competitive debut, finishing runner-up in the WPT.
