Racket shape: aggressive or controllable?

3 racket shapes are available to best suit every playing style. Depending on the range and the needs of each player level, Bullpadel has selected several shapes for its products. The diamond shape is designed for aggressive players, as the weight is concentrated towards the top of the racket, providing more impact on smashes, bandejas and viboras — signature padel shots to which we have dedicated an article. Diamond rackets are primarily aimed at advanced to expert players because they require greater technical mastery, but the Spanish brand still offers this type of racket to less experienced players by adjusting other specifications to make them more comfortable to play with. 

For greater control, Bullpadel also offers padel rackets with a round shape. With weight concentrated towards the handle, these palas are designed to return your opponents' balls as accurately as possible, without making unforced errors. Often recommended to beginners to help them get a better feel for the ball, round-shaped rackets are also used by experienced players seeking maximum ball control. 

And finally, for added versatility, the teardrop shape is also available. A hybrid shape between diamond and round, it is rarely offered to top-level players by Bullpadel, as playing styles are more defined at that level (control for right-side players, power for left-side players). The faces: hard or soft? 

The racket faces are also crucial factors to keep in mind. They greatly influence how the ball feels to the player. Two materials are used. Fibreglass is the material manufacturers use for entry-level rackets, as it is easy for beginners to handle. It provides control, playing comfort and impact resistance. Also durable, carbon is, however, more demanding to play with, but devastating when properly mastered. More expensive than fibreglass, it is recommended for experienced players. 

Another aspect of carbon: its density. On the faces of a padel racket, the carbon density can vary, altering hitting sensation and above all how the ball responds. The denser the carbon, the stiffer it is, and the more power and responsiveness the racket delivers, trading off some control. Density is often indicated by the number following the racket name (3k carbon, for example), which means 3,000 carbon filaments are used. Some rackets can reach up to 18k filaments. 

The foam: Soft or Hard? 

The foam, or rubber, is the part of the racket located between the faces that gives impacts their plush feel or firmness. It comes in two types: Soft and Hard. Soft foams are very flexible and low in density, increasing the racket's control and playing comfort. Conversely, Hard foams are stiff and denser, increasing the feeling of power and explosiveness on impact.
