Big news came from Babolat this weekend with the announcement of an unprecedented collaboration between the French brand and Italian car manufacturer Lamborghini. The partnership might seem surprising, but look a little closer and it makes a lot of sense…
An exceptional partnership
In a dynamic video posted on both brands’ social media channels, the partnership heralds future collaboration between the two manufacturers and has already produced a new product: an innovative padel racket bearing both logos and a promise: to combine Italian elegance with French sporting performance, drawing on each brand’s expertise to create a unique, exceptional racket. In high-performance cars, the use and design of carbon fibres are crucial, and Lamborghini has made them a speciality. Combined with Babolat’s padel expertise, everything is in place to create the exceptional racket that the two manufacturers have spent six months designing from start to finish.
We also know what the racket will look like. Keeping the distinctive central-strip design seen on Babolat padel rackets, the racket’s designers have added two symmetrical graphic elements that give it a futuristic look.
Inspired by the chassis of the Italian brand’s hypercars, the BL001 (that’s its name) will also, according to Babolat’s website, be available in several colours. That raises a question: will there be several models? How much will the rackets cost? The mystery remains, and the brands should tell us more during April…

A padel racket... but much more besides
We also know that the racket should go on sale sometime in May and that only 50 units are expected to be made. Making unique rackets in such small numbers helps generate excitement, especially with names this big. The aim is not just to create a padel racket, but rather a technical and aesthetic feat that brings sport and luxury together, as Lamborghini so perfectly embodies.
A similar collaboration had already taken place between Wilson and the Spanish brand Cupra. Both were partners of the World Padel Tour at the time and had created a special racket for the occasion, but only the design was different. This time, it’s different. The two brands are joining forces to design a unique racket that challenges established conventions, drawing on the expertise of two giants in their respective fields. Collaborations like this keep innovation moving forward and push brands to meet padel players’ needs!
For now, that’s all the information available: no exact release date, no precise details about the racket’s components and, above all, no price yet. But there’s no doubt that these exceptional rackets will be among the year’s most expensive and most coveted! We also know that the two brands are currently working on the BL002 and BL003 models, which could be released sometime in 2025. Watch this space...
