Victoria Iglesias Segador, born on 16 May 1994 in Seville, Spain, is a notable figure in women’s padel who came to the sport from tennis. Currently ranked in the FIP top 30, her remarkable journey and determination make her a player to watch at the biggest padel tournaments.
Her journey in racket sports
Like many padel players, including Gemma Triay, Victoria began her sporting career in tennis, a sport she had played since the age of four, following her family’s lead. However, the pressure and high expectations led her to leave tennis at 17, after many years of sacrifice. This turning point was difficult, but her love of sport never faded.
Her sister and mother, both padel coaches, convinced her to give the sport a try. At first, Victoria was sceptical: padel’s smaller courts and walls felt unfamiliar to her. With the help of her coach, Javier Peñas, however, she quickly picked up the nuances of the game.
Within a few months, she had become a professional player, catching the attention of padel legend Cata Tenorio, who invited her to partner with her in 2015. In 2016, she was also part of the Monte-Carlo International Sports team alongside Delfina Brea. She was also selected to take part in the New World Padel League tournament in 2022, as was Paula Josemaria.
Over the years, Victoria has played alongside several partners, including:
- Esther Lasheras (2013–2014)
- Cata Tenorio (2015)
- Teresa Navarro (2017–2018)
- Alba Galán (2019–2020)
- Aranza Osoru (2021–2022)
- Patty Llaguno (2023)
- Alix Collombon (2023)
- Claudia Fernández Sanchez (2023)
- Barbara Las Heras (2024)
- Marina Guinart España (2024–present)
Each of these partnerships has contributed to her development as a player and her rise up the world rankings.
A few words about her playing style
Victoria Iglesias is a versatile player known for her powerful, precise shots, particularly her two-handed backhand which she honed during her tennis years and which is one of her greatest strengths.
She prefers to take up a central position on court, allowing her to cover every area of play effectively through her movement. She often puts plenty of spin on the ball to make its trajectory highly unpredictable.
Her playing style is attacking, as she always looks to control the game and put pressure on her opponents to finish points quickly . This aggressive mindset allows her to seize every opportunity to finish points effectively. She mainly plays on the backhand side.
Sponsors and equipment
Victoria is backed by several well-known sponsors who believe in her potential. They include brands such as Puma, which recently launched the Puma Nova Elite Victoria Iglesias 2024 racket, designed especially for her.

Padel-related injuries
Despite her success, Victoria has also had to contend with injuries. In May 2023, she suffered an ankle injury that kept her out of competition for six weeks. This period of rehabilitation was frustrating for her, given her constant desire to compete. Victoria showed remarkable resilience, using the experience to focus on her mental and physical wellbeing.
A spectacular finish to 2024!
In 2024, Victoria Iglesias delivered several notable performances on the Premier Padel and FIP circuits, although she was often knocked out in the early rounds. She reached the round of 16 at the Oysho Valladolid Premier Padel P2 (September 2024) and Premier Padel Santiago (May 2024). She reached the quarter-finals at the Rotterdam Premier Padel P1 (September 2024) and the semi-finals of the FIP Platinum Sardinia in July 2024, held just before the European Padel Championships.
Yet she sprang a surprise by winning the Cupra Finals with her partner at the end of the year, sealing a commanding final with a crushing 6–0 third set! The Spaniard finished the year on a high after a fairly turbulent season in terms of results: 1 title, 1 semi-final and 4 quarter-finals across 22 tournaments in 2024.
