A look back at her journey

Her beginnings in padel

From a young age, Delfina Brea played sports like football, basketball, and handball until she began to stand out with a racket in hand in the junior categories of Argentine tennis. She competed semi-professionally until the age of 12, when she decided to switch courts to the 20x10 due to physical differences compared to her opponents.

Her father, Nito Brea, one of the most renowned players in Argentina, played a key role in this decision by managing a padel club in Buenos Aires where Delfi began to train daily.

Her rise

In 2015, at just 15 years old, Delfina Brea secured a sponsorship that allowed her to travel to Spain, a trip that proved crucial in pursuing a professional career in padel. Two years later, at the age of 17, she moved to Spain, leaving her family behind to chase her dream. She began adapting to the elite level of the World Padel Tour with Sara Pujals, and in 2018, the experienced Ana Catarina Nogueira believed in her, allowing Delfi to start showing what she was capable of despite her youth.

Succession of partners and breakthrough

Alongside Ana Catarina Nogueira, Delfi began to establish herself as a major player by winning the Valladolid Challenger. Her remarkable role caught the attention of the top players, reaching the 20th position in the World Padel Tour at just 18 years old.

Subsequently, Mapi Sánchez Alayeto, then world number one alongside her sister Majo, called her. Following this period, Delfi began her first partnership with Bea González, forming a very young and promising pair. They won two Challenger titles in Paris and San Javier and reached the semi-finals of the Master Final.

In 2020, she teamed up again with Ana Catarina Nogueira, but this stint was not as successful. Subsequently, Delfi partnered with Tamara Icardo, with whom she formed a very tenacious team, winning several titles and climbing towards the top of the world padel rankings. However, the successes of 2021 were not repeated in 2022, largely due to injuries and inconsistency.

After a difficult period with Sofia Araújo, Delfi returned to play with Bea González in 2023, rediscovering success with eight titles won during the season.

The player's equipment

Her Bullpadel racket

Like her partner and like the great player Gemma Triay, Delfina Brea plays with a Bullpadel pala. More specifically, she uses the Bullpadel Vertex 04 Woman 2024 racket, designed for attacking players looking to finish the point with power. This racket has a diamond shape with a high balance, favouring smashes. It is manufactured with innovative materials such as Fibrix for the outer surface and MultiEva for the inner core, offering exceptional control and responsiveness.

What outfit?

In competition, Delfi wears lightweight and breathable padel clothing that allows great freedom of movement. Her apparel is from Bullpadel, which is also her clothing sponsor, featuring bright colours that reflect her energy and dynamic style on the court.

What is Delfi's playing style?

Delfina Brea is known for her aggressiveness near the net and her ability to generate a high volume of play. She excels in quick transitions from defence to attack, using her viboras and deep volleys to score winning points. Her determination and ability to seize opportunities for winners in key moments of the match are remarkable.

Memorable matches

One of her most memorable matches was at the 2021 Santander Open, where she won her first WPT title with Tamara Icardo and was named tournament MVP. In 2023, alongside Bea González, Delfi won several tournaments, cementing their position among the best pairs in the world.
