The features of Head Speed padel rackets
Present in the world padel scene for several years, Head has opted for a change of identity by changing the names of its ranges as well as their colours. Goodbye to the black and white of the Alpha range and hello to the grey and copper colours of the Speed range. However, the same classification remains within the range: Elite for beginners, Motion for intermediate players and Pro for advanced players, with the addition of the Pro X, which is even more powerful. A powerful range par excellence, you can still find more accessible rackets such as the Evo Speed, made of fibreglass to optimise control and minimise unforced errors.
How do you choose your Head Speed?
To choose the right padel racket, especially from the Head Speed range, it is important to know your level and playing style. For powerful players, the Head Speed Pro X is a suitable option. With its 12k carbon frame and head-heavy balance resulting from its diamond shape, it is one of the most powerful rackets on the market. Its Power Foam core adds to its stiffness, making it a real machine for hitting par 3 smashes. Bear in mind, though, that its reduced control and stiffness could cause injuries.
For advanced players looking for a little more subtlety in their game, the Speed Pro is recommended. The teardrop shape is chosen for greater versatility thanks to a more centrally balanced weight in the face. The foam remains Power Foam to maintain power and stiffness. The main difference lies in the faces, made from graphene, a carbon and fibreglass alloy that provides a good balance between power and control. However, the carbon content is higher than the fibreglass content. A highly versatile racket, the Speed Pro will win over many advanced players.
For the two little sisters, the Speed Motion and Speed Elite, they are easier to play with and more accessible for intermediate players and beginners. The reason? The weight is reduced and the carbon concentration is lower in the graphene. We can therefore see a hierarchy among the 4 rackets, from the most accessible (Speed Elite) to the stiffest (Speed Pro).
Are Head Speed rackets suitable for all players?
With this hierarchy and the horizontal balance of the rackets, we can say that the Speed range can be suitable for most players, with everyone able to find the right fit. All levels are covered: from beginners with the Speed Elite and Motion to advanced players seeking maximum power (Speed Pro X and, to a lesser extent, Speed Pro). In addition, the teardrop shape makes the rackets as versatile as possible, creating a popular and accessible range for a large number of players.
