Keep improving with confidence
Following on from our beginner rackets, here is our collection of rackets for intermediate players. Do you play once or twice a week and want a racket that will help you improve? You’ve come to the right place. Rackets for intermediate players cost between €100 and €150 and are considered mid-range rackets.
Leading brands available at Esprit Padel Shop
Among our rackets for intermediate players, you’ll find leading brands, both padel specialists and others, such as Babolat, Bullpadel, Nox, Head and DropShot. Combining expertise with cutting-edge technology, these manufacturers ensure the quality and consistency of their rackets.
Why choose an intermediate-level racket?
Having a racket that suits your playing style and level is important, which is why we recommend reading our blog or collection guides like this one. A racket suited to their level helps players avoid the frustration of using a "high-end" racket they cannot yet control, or of being held back by one that is not technical enough for them. What’s more, better rackets cost more, so it would be a shame to spend extra on a racket that does not suit your level.

The whole Esprit Padel Shop team is here to help you find THE racket that best suits your game. Connected to Esprit Padel, the largest padel centre in the Lyon area, our experts share the club experience they have been passing on to its regular players for over 4 years. How do you choose your intermediate racket?
As with any racket, it’s essential to look at all the features to choose the racket that best suits your game.
Shape: aggressive play or all-out control?
When choosing a racket, its shape matters because it influences how it plays. For beginner rackets, we’ve seen that round shapes and teardrop shapes are the most popular, as they offer welcome control and precision for those just starting out. This helps avoid mistakes and early frustration. At higher levels, there are more and more diamond-shaped rackets, considered more powerful and explosive. As players gain experience and master their rackets and the fundamentals of the game, they can afford to trade some control for power.
Racket faces: fibreglass or carbon?
The racket faces are also worth considering, as they make the first contact with the ball when you return a shot. The way the ball comes off the racket can change depending on the material used for the faces. Fibreglass offers the most control and comfort because it is more flexible. Carbon, besides being more expensive, is stiffer and harder to control.
In most cases, a racket for intermediate players is made with fibreglass, both to keep costs down and to provide ball control. However, some rackets in this collection are made with carbon, so check the product pages carefully to find the racket best suited to your style.
Foam: soft or firm?
The foam, also known as the core, sits between the two faces and can also change the racket’s balance. There are different types of foam: Soft, which is flexible and cushioned and promotes precision and comfort, and Hard, which is stiffer, less forgiving and promotes hitting power. Both types can be found in intermediate rackets, although soft foam is recommended for greater control, especially with diamond-shaped rackets, for example.
