Pro Kennex, the pioneer of comfort!
As you know, padel is a fast-growing sport that continues to expand every day. That’s why many brands are launching padel ranges to diversify and reach as many people as possible. Several companies that have already made a name for themselves in sport are trying their hand at making padel rackets and entering the market.
That’s the case with Singaporean brand Pro Kennex, which started out as a tennis racket brand but is increasingly expanding into other racket sports, including badminton, squash, pickleball and, of course, padel. With a fairly comprehensive first range of rackets, Pro Kennex offers padel rackets for every type of player, from beginners looking for accessible options to high-end rackets that will delight experienced players.
What are the features of Pro Kennex padel rackets?
Pro Kennex’s main strength is playing comfort, thanks in particular to one distinctive feature: the Kinetic System. This technology helps significantly reduce vibrations with every racket shot and thus limit the risk of injury, particularly to the elbow. Several areas of the padel racket contain small beads that absorb impacts and reduce the risk of tennis elbow, for example. The technology was first used in its tennis rackets before being adapted for padel, where it has become a real selling point for the brand.
Developed by Pro Kennex itself, this innovation is unique and quite revolutionary in the sport, where many people complain of recurring joint injuries. Other brands on the market are trying their best to develop similar technology, but so far no manufacturer has matched Pro Kennex’s technology.
How do you choose your Pro Kennex racket?
With Pro Kennex, as with any other brand, you need to find the padel racket that best suits your game, style and level. That means considering a few selection criteria.
The shape: power, control… or both?
The diamond shape is designed for players looking to maximise their power and aggression on court. With this design, the racket’s balance is towards the head, making overhead shots such as smashes, bandejas and viboras more effective. However, having the weight further from your hand can compromise control and manoeuvrability, especially on low shots below waist height.
Unlike the diamond shape, the round shape favours ball control and defensive play. Here, the weight is distributed towards the handle, which improves manoeuvrability and ball control. This configuration is particularly useful for reducing errors, although it can sacrifice some explosiveness and power when it comes to finishing points decisively.
Finally, there’s the teardrop shape. Rackets with this shape offer a balance between control and power, with the weight centred in the middle of the face. They’re ideal for players looking to maximise their versatility on court. However, it’s important to note that they have no particular standout strength in play!
The faces: stiff or flexible?
The faces of padel rackets play a crucial role in their performance because they determine their stiffness.
Fibreglass, known for its flexibility, is often favoured for its forgiveness, making it a popular choice among beginners because it is easy to use. It helps improve ball control, reducing the frustrating mistakes beginners often make. However, its limitations in power and flexibility may become restrictive as your level improves.
By contrast, carbon faces are stiffer and are generally suited to intermediate or advanced players, as they require some padel experience to master. Carbon density varies between models, from 3k (less dense and more forgiving) to 18k (very dense, offering plenty of power).
The foam: Soft or Hard?
The foam, positioned between the two faces of the racket, plays a key role in how the balls feel and behave on impact and as they leave the racket. Its softness varies between models.
Different types of foam follow the same principle as racket faces: the denser and harder the foam, the more responsive the racket and the better the feedback on shots. By contrast, softer foam offers greater comfort and control when striking the ball. It is worth noting, however, the risk of injury associated with using hard foam and stiff faces together.
