À la découverte de Slazenger Padel
Summary

The Esprit Padel Shop team is delighted to introduce a new brand to the site… Slazenger!

Founded in 1881, this British brand originally specialised in tennis. Following the rise of padel, Slazenger developed a dedicated padel range.

Slazenger Padel began in 2020. Its first collection of padel rackets takes its name from one of the most iconic tennis rackets ever made, the Slazenger Challenge No.1.

Slazenger was one of the leading tennis racket manufacturers in the era of wooden rackets. This iconic brand remains firmly rooted in tennis through its partnership with Wimbledon as the Grand Slam’s official ball supplier.

Although this brand is only just establishing itself in the padel market, it is well worth keeping an eye on...

Now let’s get to the main event: the padel rackets, of course!

Slazenger Challenge and Series padel rackets

Slazenger Challenge No. 1

Slazenger’s first padel racket is named after one of the most iconic tennis rackets, the Slazenger Challenge No.1.

The Challenge No. 1 is a high-end racket designed for advanced players.

This unique racket has a hard Eva core… a firm core. That rigidity provides the explosiveness needed by players seeking powerful shots. Once mastered, this core can become a formidable weapon for experienced players.

The core is not the only thing that makes the Challenge No. 1 a unique racket. Its frame is made from 12k carbon. This means that more than 12 000 tiny carbon filaments are woven into a single thread. This cutting-edge technique is often used in aerospace and extreme sports. The carbon gives the racket excellent strength. Alongside its durability, this construction gives the ball excellent rebound for ideal control.

The frame features raised, panther-shaped grooves. As well as adding playing comfort, these grooves help generate spin.

With its teardrop shape and optimised weight of 360 /375 grams, this padel racket has been designed down to the millimetre to deliver an excellent balance of control and power. It is not a racket for everyone, but once mastered, it becomes a formidable weapon.

Slazenger Challenge No. 2

Also named after Slazenger’s first tennis racket collection: the Challenge No. 2.

Quite similar to the Challenge No. 1, this round-shaped racket has an optimised weight of 360/375 grams. It shares the same technologies as the Challenge No. 1, but still has its differences.

First, its round shape is designed for control and provides a larger sweet spot. This racket is therefore suitable for experienced players as well as beginners, who can enjoy good control.

Its technology includes a frame made from 12K carbon, ideal for optimising control. The panther-shaped grooves also provide extra comfort and help generate spin.

Finally, the Challenge No. 2’s hard eva core gives the racket rigidity and good control without sacrificing power.

Supplied with a stylish cover, the Slazenger racket will appeal to control lovers and players seeking less rigidity than the Challenge No. 1

Slazenger Challenge No. 3

Slazenger continues the range with a round racket: the Challenge No. 3

Its control is reflected first in its weight of 360 grams. This manoeuvrable racket has a hard eva foam core. The foam is firm, but the 6K carbon frame reduces its overall rigidity. The 6k carbon provides extra flexibility while retaining power and control. More flexible than 12k carbon, this construction offers a pleasant rebound feel with less rigidity.

However, this does nothing to diminish the power of this racket, which is more forgiving than the Challenge No. 1, for example.

For control, the frame has a raised texture. This provides extra comfort and helps generate spin.

This racket is particularly suited to players who want to feel the ball well. It is also much less rigid than its counterparts, making it less tiring to use. It is therefore recommended for players who experience arm and elbow pain after a match.

Slazenger Challenge No. 4

And to round off the Challenge padel racket series in style, here is the No. 4.

Here Slazenger offers the most flexible and manoeuvrable racket in the range. Its weight is optimised at 350g, making it the lightest racket in the range. The Challenge No. 4 has a hard eva core, which is rigid. Its flexibility comes mainly from its frame, made from less dense 3k carbon. This lower frame density gives it excellent rebound feel.

Its balance is medium and, combined with its round shape, gives the Slazenger racket a larger sweet spot.

The Challenge is not Slazenger’s only racket range, however. There is also the Series range, with its two flagship models.

Slazenger Series Epic

With its black-on-black design, the Series Epic racket will win you over with both its looks and the technology built into it.

The raised Slazenger logo is, of course, present on the frame. The rough frame helps with control and generating spin...

The frame is made from 12k carbon. It is a strong frame that gives the ball plenty of punch. This construction makes the racket’s frame rigid, giving it a firm feel during rallies. However, that rigidity provides extra control on slower shots.

The foam is made from Hard Eva. A firm core that provides power and control. Experienced players with good technique will get the most out of a rigid core.

With its round shape, the Slazenger Epic series racket focuses on control while also offering very good power. Alongside its technology, the Epic series has a striking design that will appeal to padel’s style-conscious players.

Slazenger Series Icon

Finally, let’s round off the racket ranges in style with the Series ICON.
This teardrop-shaped racket has a look quite similar to the Series EPIC.

This all-black racket is versatile thanks to both its shape and its technology. One major difference is its diamond shape, which gives it more power but makes it less manoeuvrable than its EPIC counterpart.

The racket’s frame is made from 12k carbon fibre. This cutting-edge technique involves weaving 12 000 carbon filaments into a single thread. The increased rigidity gives the racket control and explosiveness.

The Hard Eva core is firm. This rigidity provides the power needed by players looking to hit powerful shots.

Its rough surface, patterned with black panthers, provides greater comfort and precision.

The racket also comes with frame protector tape in Slazenger colours. The tape helps protect the padel racket as much as possible, limiting marks on the frame caused by impacts.

But Slazenger hasn’t ventured into padel rackets alone. To match the rackets’ designs, here is its winter 2021 collection. If you’re going to win (or lose), you might as well do it in style!
