Drop Shot 2022 collection: which are the best rackets from the Spanish brand?

We continue our tour of racket collections and move on to Drop Shot. The Spanish brand, rather underrated in France but very popular in Spain, notably thanks to its ambassador Juan Martin Diaz, an international padel legend and world number 1 for 14 years. For 2022, as usual, Drop Shot has reissued many of its flagship rackets, which deserve a closer look. Let’s discover the brand’s most effective palas. 

BE ONE range

Drop Shot Conqueror 10: Conquer the padel court 

We start strong with the 10th Conqueror, the legendary racket of the equally legendary Juan Martin Diaz, one of the most iconic players on the international circuit. Technically, this pala is packed with technologies to make you the best player possible. With a teardrop shape, the Conqueror 10 (little sister of the Conqueror 9) is nevertheless very stiff due to its 100% carbon construction. The frame and faces are made from Triaxial carbon, a technology that makes the racket very stiff and therefore highly responsive and precise, at the expense of some playing comfort. 

To counterbalance all this, Drop Shot has worked to make this racket at least comfortable thanks to the Silicone Grip Channel and Cork Cushion Grip, two technologies that add cork to the handle to prevent vibrations from passing through and protect against injuries, especially to the elbow. Fortunately, these technologies are included, as the Eva Tech foam is also fairly hard, making it less forgiving but devastating when mastered, just like the racket overall. Note that this racket is available in a junior version, the Conqueror 10 Junior, to develop tomorrow’s stars. 

DropShot Legend 3.0:   Become legendary with DropShot 

We remain in the high-end range from DropShot and this time we are looking at the Legend 3.0. This pala is versatile, with its weight positioned in the centre of the face and its teardrop shape. However, it is very stiff, even more so than its cousin mentioned above, thanks to TeXtreme technology, which provides faces made from very dense 24,000-filament carbon (24k carbon). Highly responsive, the racket is therefore very powerful and precise, but playing comfort is reduced, reserving this type of racket for experienced players. 

The foam, meanwhile, is Eva Pro. Less stiff than the Eva Tech in the Conqueror, it is still fairly dense and increases the power and precision of the pala. To add control and playing comfort to this fairly demanding racket, Drop Shot has thought of everything with the Smart Holes System, which ensures optimal hole placement to minimise vibrations, a welcome feature for such a stiff racket. The Cork Cushion Grip cork piece is also present in the handle to once again improve playing comfort by reducing vibrations and increasing comfort. Ultimately, the Legend 3.0 is a racket that is very stiff and highly responsive, but whose technologies have made it more comfortable and therefore fairly versatile. 

LCP range

 Drop Shot Essence 1.0: The fuel for success!  

We move on to the LCP range, named after the three-directional carbon LCP, an innovation unique to Drop Shot that guarantees a unique hitting feel. A brand-new range from the Spanish brand, the LCP range includes 2 rackets, including the Essence 1.0. With a teardrop shape, it has a fairly centred weight that makes it effective on all padel shots. With its Eva Pro foam, which provides a certain degree of stiffness, combined with the carbon frame, the Essence 1.0 is, like the 2 rackets above, reserved for experienced players who can handle the hardness of the pala. 

Drop Shot Yukon 1.0: Carbon with a soft touch.

The Yukon 1.0 has broadly the same characteristics as the Essence 1.0, with the same LCP carbon and teardrop shape, but with one major difference: the foam. Indeed, this racket uses Soft Eva, a much softer and more forgiving foam that absorbs almost all vibrations and counterbalances the stiffness of the carbon to create a complete racket that can adapt to all styles of play and shots. In addition, the Ergo Pro Protector is included to reinforce the racket in its most fragile areas and ensure the pala’s long-term durability. The Yukon 1.0 is therefore a versatile racket, more comfortable and suitable for a right-side player, whereas the Essence 1.0 is harder, more power-oriented and could suit a left-side player. Pro range 

Drop Shot Power 2.0: Unexpected power 

We move up a range to the Pro range, one of the most sought-after ranges among high-level players, starting with the Power 2.0 which, as its name suggests, is a power-oriented racket. Do not be fooled by its round shape, this racket is very stiff thanks to its 12k carbon and allows the player using it to unleash all their power, especially on smashes and high volleys. 

To balance out this explosiveness, Drop Shot has added Soft Eva foam, which is fairly soft to make the pala versatile and, above all, formidable. Another feature that makes the racket even more complete is the 3D face. This involves adding texture to the faces to maximise spin and unsettle your opponents with topspin smashes or well-executed drop shots. A unique racket, almost impossible to find elsewhere, the Power 2.0 is devastating when mastered.  

Drop Shot Explorer Pro Soft: Ultimate control 

We move on to another racket with an objective diametrically opposed to the one above: the Explorer Pro Soft, which focuses on ball control and precision on court. Indeed, it has all the characteristics of a control-oriented racket, with a round shape and weight towards the handle, ensuring excellent manoeuvrability, and Soft Eva foam that provides comfort at impact and vibration absorption, making this racket highly forgiving. The Cork Cushion Grip, a technology dear to Drop Shot, is also included to minimise vibrations and make the Explorer Pro Soft suitable for all players, experienced or otherwise. A soft version of the Explorer 4.0, you will not be disappointed with this pala! 

Ambition range: improve with confidence 

Drop Shot Doppel: Pure forgiveness 

In this fairly extensive range, where intermediate-level players can find what they are looking for, there are many rackets, starting with the Doppel, a new addition this year. This round shape pala is the control version of the range. It allows all intermediate players, and perhaps beginners too, to improve at padel by playing as many balls as possible, without necessarily hitting hard. The Smart Holes System, which gives the player more forgiveness, along with the 3k carbon used, support this approach by limiting power while increasing the racket’s control/comfort balance, resulting in a pala that is very pleasant to play with. Be careful of frustration, however, when you cannot finish a point, which is common with this type of racket. Finally, the foam used is Soft Eva, making the Doppler a truly soft and comfortable racket.  

Drop Shot Allegra 1.0: Bring joy to your shots 

We now focus on the Allegra 1.0, positioned as the versatile racket in the Ambition range, adding power without losing too much control. With a teardrop shape, the Allegra benefits from a medium balance that ensures manoeuvrability while retaining a good level of power. The faces made from carbon provide good stiffness and responsiveness, particularly useful for volleys and smashes. However, the carbon is made up of only 3,000 microfilaments, making it a soft carbon that remains fairly easy to play with. 

The foam used is Eva Pro, an intermediate foam that sometimes provides ball control and is sometimes powerful enough to finish points when needed. The 3D Face is also present: the faces are rough, with texture that allows you to impart spin to your balls and surprise your opponents. The Allegra 1.0 is therefore designed to be complete, suitable for all positions and all types of players. 

Drop Shot Cristal 3.0: Balanced power 

A familiar racket in this range, the Cristal 3.0 is a more power-oriented racket than the other three. This is quickly apparent from its diamond shape, which places the racket’s weight in the head to deliver powerful smashes. The 3k carbon faces reinforce this stiff, powerful effect while retaining a degree of comfort thanks to their low density. However, the racket is balanced by its very soft and flexible foam.

Like last year’s Cristal 3.0, this year’s version uses Soft Eva to soften regular shots (excluding smashes and powerful shots) and therefore add playing comfort, especially on ball impact. The Cristal is therefore a fairly powerful racket that does not overlook player comfort, thanks to its soft foam. 

Essential range 

Drop Shot Sakura 4.0: Complete racket to get started! 

We move on to the final range, the Essential range. Ideal for starting to play padel and improving, these Drop Shot rackets are an underrated entry-level option in the world of padel, especially the Sakura 4.0. The successor to the Sakura 3.0, the fourth version of this racket has a teardrop shape, a versatile shape that can both control balls and hit them. With its fibreglass faces and Soft Eva foam, comfort is optimised so beginners can start this sport in the best possible way, without making mistakes and, above all, without becoming frustrated. The Twin Tubular System is also included. Carbon tubes are positioned along the sides of the racket to prevent impacts against the glass and ensure the pala’s durability. 

Drop Shot Kibo 3.0: One of the best value-for-money options  

Finally, here is one of the most accessible beginner rackets, both in terms of price and playability. With a round shape and fibreglass construction, this pala is made for beginners, always with the aim of controlling balls as much as possible. Eva Soft foam and the Silicone Grip Channel are also included to ensure very good hitting comfort and greater precision, especially for beginners who need it. Young teenagers looking to gradually move on to adult rackets are also a good target for this racket.
