This weekend, big news emerged from Babolat with the announcement of an unprecedented collaboration between the French brand and the Italian car manufacturer Lamborghini. The pairing might seem surprising, but looking closer, not so much…
An exceptional partnership
Through a dynamic video published on the social media of both brands, this partnership announces the future collaboration between the two manufacturers and, already, the birth of a product: a brand-new padel racket featuring both logos and a promise: to combine Italian elegance with French sporting performance, while also leveraging the expertise of each brand to produce a unique and exceptional racket. In high-performance automotive engineering, the use and design of carbon fibres are paramount, and Lamborghini has made it their speciality. Combined with Babolat's padel science, all the ingredients are there to craft the exceptional racket that the two manufacturers spent 6 months designing from start to finish.
We also know what the racket is going to look like. While maintaining the distinctive central stripe design characteristic of Babolat padel rackets, the racket's designers added two symmetrical graphic elements that give the pala a futuristic dimension.
Inspired by the chassis of the Italian brand's hypercars, the BL001 (that's its name) will also be, according to the Babolat website, available in several colours. This naturally raises the question: will there be several models? What will the price of the rackets be? The mystery remains, and the brands should keep us informed during the month of April…
A padel racket... but not only that
We also know that the racket should be available for purchase in May and that only 50 units will be produced. The idea of creating unique rackets produced in very limited quantities helps to generate real excitement, especially with big names like these. The goal is not just to create a padel racket, but rather a technical and aesthetic tour de force blending sport and luxury, as Lamborghini embodies so well.
A similar collaboration had already taken place with Wilson and the Spanish brand Cupra; both were partners of the World Padel Tour at the time and had created a special racket for the occasion, though only the design changed. Here, it is different. The two brands are teaming up to design a unique pala that challenges existing standards thanks to the expertise of two giants in their respective fields. It is through this kind of collaboration that innovation keeps pushing forward and brands outdo themselves to meet the needs of padeleros!
For now, this is the only information available: no specific release date, no precise specifications regarding the pala's components, and above all, no retail price yet. But there is no doubt that these exceptional rackets will be among the most expensive and sought-after of the year! We also know that both brands are currently working on the BL002 and BL003 models, which could be released during 2025. Stay tuned...
