What is the FIP Padel ranking?

The FIP ranking is much more than a simple list of names ranked according to their performances. It is a points allocation system used to assess and compare the best male and female padel players internationally. This padel ranking system is managed by the International Padel Federation (FIP), the organisation that ensures the proper development and regulation of this sport worldwide.

This ranking fulfils several essential roles: it establishes a clear hierarchy of active players, determines qualification for FIP tournaments, and also serves as a criterion for invitations to major events, notably those of Premier Padel.

Players accumulate points based on their performances in the various FIP circuit tournaments, and only their best results over a defined period are taken into account. Thus, each season brings its share of twists and turns, surprises and new faces that shake up the established hierarchy.

With the merger between the World Padel Tour and Premier Padel, the FIP ranking has become even more significant as the official benchmark for professional circuits. It is therefore crucial for any player wishing to establish themselves on the international stage to understand how it works and adopt a smart strategy to maximise their points throughout competitions.

Is the FIP ranking now more important than the World Padel Tour?

Since 2024, the FIP ranking has become the official reference for the professional circuit, gradually replacing the former World Padel Tour (WPT) ranking. Due to the merger of the WPT with Premier Padel, the FIP has taken control of the world ranking system.

• The WPT no longer has its own ranking, and all players must go through the FIP ranking to access major tournaments.
• The FIP, an organisation recognised by international sporting bodies, now harmonises the points system for all Premier Padel and FIP Tour tournaments.
• At the start of 2025, the FIP ranking is the standard to follow for determining the hierarchy of professional players.

How does the FIP ranking points system work?

The FIP ranking is based on a points allocation system based on players' performances in various international tournaments. These tournaments are divided into two main circuits:

The Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour: the most prestigious professional circuit, bringing together the world's best players and offering the greatest rewards in terms of points and prize money. It includes the following categories:

•  Major: the most prestigious tournaments on the circuit, with high prize money and the maximum number of points awarded to participants.
•  P1: high-level events, with lower prize money than the Majors but still very important for the rankings.
•  P2: intermediate tournaments that allow players to earn points and progress in the hierarchy.
•  Finals : the circuit's grand final, bringing together the season's best players.

The Cupra FIP Tour: an intermediate circuit that allows players to accumulate points and progress in the international rankings to access the biggest competitions. It includes the following categories:

• Platinum
• Gold
• Silver
• Bronze
• Finals

Outside these circuits, there is also the FIP World Cup Pairs, a unique competition that showcases national pairs and allows players to earn points for their country while standing out in the individual rankings.

Qualifying bonus

In the FIP ranking system, points are awarded based on performances in tournament qualifying rounds:

•  Bonus Qualy: these points are awarded to players who successfully progress through the qualifying rounds and reach the main draw.
• Last Qualy: this is a bonus awarded to players who reach the final round of qualification without making it into the tableau principal.

These points systems reward the performances of players competing in the preliminary stages and fighting to secure their place in the biggest tournaments.

Points accumulation and validity

•  Points earned remain valid for 12 months before being replaced by results from new seasons.
• A player can accumulate points across several tournaments to improve their ranking.
•  Only the best results from a given period are taken into account.

France is making steady progress in the FIP ranking. Here is a brief overview of the key information on the French padel player ranking at the start of 2025:

• Thomas Leygue is closing in on the world top 100, confirming his status as France's best player.

• In the women's game, Alix Collombon is ranked 29th, confirming her place among the best players on the international circuit.

• Other French players are progressing thanks to their performances in FIP tournaments, notably events held in France, such as those in Bourg-en-Bresse.
