Padel balls resemble tennis balls, but they are slightly less pressurised for a lower bounce. Esprit Padel Shop offers balls from leading brands, including Head, Bullpadel, Wilson and Nox. They are sold in tubes of 3, tripacks, packs of 12 tubes or boxes of 24 tubes.

Fast or classic balls: which should you choose?

Balls fall into two categories by speed: classic balls and fast balls. Each suits a different level, season and type of court.

Classic balls, known as slow balls, bounce lower and last longer. They suit beginners, tactical play and fast courts, especially in summer, when the heat speeds up the game.

Fast balls offer more speed and explosive play. Experienced players prefer them, especially in winter or on newer sand-free artificial-turf courts, which slow the game down. They do, however, wear out faster and often need replacing after two or three matches.

Tube, tripack or box: which format should you buy?

A tube contains 3 balls. A tripack contains 3 tubes, a pack contains 12 tubes and a box contains 24 tubes, or 72 balls.

The larger the format, the lower the price per ball. The Head Padel One x Esprit Padel Shop tripack works out at €1.88 per ball, compared with €1.37 per ball in a box. The box of 24 tubes of balls suits regular players, coaches and clubs.

Good to know: a ball loses pressure long before its felt wears out. A ball pressuriser extends its lifespan and reduces the number of tubes you throw away.

How can you compare balls before buying?

FAQ

What’s the difference between a padel ball and a tennis ball?

A padel ball is slightly less pressurised than a tennis ball, giving it a lower bounce. This bounce suits a court enclosed by glass walls, where the ball needs to remain playable after rebounding off a wall. Playing padel with tennis balls therefore makes the game faster and harder to control.

How long does a padel ball last?

A fast padel ball often loses its playing qualities after two or three matches. A classic ball generally lasts longer because it is designed for durability. Lifespan also depends on the heat, the court surface and how intensely you play. A pressuriser helps maintain pressure between sessions and extends the balls’ usable life.

Which padel balls should beginners choose?

If you’re starting out, choose classic balls, known as slow balls. Their lower bounce gives you more time to get into position and makes longer rallies easier. They also last longer than fast balls, helping to keep costs down. A tripack is enough to start with; once you play every week, a box becomes better value.

Which ball format should you buy if you play often?

If you play several times a week, a box of 24 tubes is the most economical option. It contains 72 balls and brings the price per ball down considerably compared with a tripack. A pack of 12 tubes offers a compromise for regular players who don’t have room to store a whole box.

How can you restore pressure to your balls?

A ball pressuriser is an airtight tube that keeps balls under pressure between matches. It slows pressure loss, the main cause of reduced bounce. This helps the balls retain their playing feel for longer, so you need to buy fewer tubes. The felt, however, continues to wear normally during play.
